Aaron Gillespie

After being the drummer and clean vocalist for over a decade with one of the most recognized metalcore bands of its time, Underoath, Aaron Gillespie has certainly carved his name into the modern rock world. Gillespie, who is most commonly known for his drumming, has decided to take his journey through music in different paths. During his final years of his reign with Underoath, the thought of breaking off to begin his own project was merely a rough idea. However, close to immediately after his departure from the group, he wrote and recorded his own material, which, in turn, led to the release of his debut album “Southern Weather,” in 2007 with his new group named The Almost. Although all of the instrumentation throughout the entire “Southern Weather” album was written and performed by Aaron himself, (with a guest appearance of Kenny Vasoli from The Starting Line), he then developed a band to accompany him on tour and to record as a full group on the sophomore album “Monster, Monster,” released in 2009.

Gillespie’s knowledge and experience with performing and writing music is nothing but extraordinary and is traced back to his very early years, experimenting and falling in love with his first drum set. When asked about how he knew that playing music was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life, he responded: “”I believe God has a journey for everyone, and this was mine.” With plans to accentuate his religious beliefs, Aaron created yet another solo project, under his full name Aaron Gillespie and released his debut album “Anthem Song,” released in 2011, with the help of personal friends providing some of the instrumentation within the album. However, Aaron has already been on tour for this recent solo project, but has no plans on disbanding from The Almost, which will continue to tour starting in early 2012.

It is no mystery that Aaron schedule is as tightly packed as it can get, but it is also evident that we are witnessing a legend being formed within the modern rock community and we will continue to encounter countless amounts of his creations for years to come.
