Walfredo Reyes Jr. is from an undeniably talented family.

He was born Walfredo de los Reyes Palau IV in Cuba, the son of a great percussionist, Walfredo Reyes Sr. His grandfather, Walfredo de los Reyes II, was the lead trumpet player and vocalist in the famous 1940s Cuban group Casino de la Playa Orquestra. His mother’s line traces back through the Cuban music history books to Felipe Palau of Barcelona, Spain, an orchestra director who visited Cuba, found love, and started a family that would continue his musical traditions.

Walfredo Jr. was raised in Puerto Rico. Beginning on the drums quite early in life, he went on to do his family proud by scoring an impressive list of collaborations through the years. He has toured or recorded with Carlos Santana, Steve Winwood, Traffic, Jackson Browne, Gloria Estefan, Ricki Lee Jones, Sergio Mendes, Richard Marx, R&B legend Smokey Robinson, Boz Scaggs, and even pop stars Christina Aguilera and Ricky Martin.

Reyes is known as the “one man percussion show,” for the very versatility, talent and showmanship that allows him to play so many different genres of music.

Walfredo Jr. isn’t the only talented son of his legendary drumming father. Walfredo’s brother, Danny de los Reyes, is an accomplished percussionist, as well, staging his own “DrumJungle” music show and collaborating with the likes of Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Don Henley, Stevie Nicks, Lionel Ritchie and Yanni.

A younger brother, Kamar de los Reyes, is a recognizable actor. He portrays Antonio Vega on the ABC-TV soap opera “One Life To Live.”
