Maria Martinez is a great teacher and writer. This book is a great study in the style of Afro Cuban drumset rhythm. The accompanying CD features very nice arrangements and pattern examples of the style, both with the drum pattern lightly in the background and without. You must have an intermediate to advanced understanding of reading and coordination to fully comprehend the value of this book. This book IS a great resource and can have applications outside of the style if the student wants to get creative.
